We understand the importance of planting in good soil, whether it’s a fruit tree planted in the ground or a house plant in a pot.
We mix our own soils using good quality black volcanic soil that we transport from the Alajuela area. we take the soil and then it is mixed with grass, and animal manures such as cow, chicken and goat. We use our layering compost method and then mix all the ingredients, moisten the mixture then cover with plastic. We then remix the pile 1-2 times per week and in a month we have excellent composted soil ready for use. This is considered our coarse in ground planting soil.
Our second mixture is our potting soil, we take the same coarse mixture, add coconut fiber and rice husks for better aeration, drainage and improved rooting medium.
